吃瓜头条911鈥檚 Master of Science for Teachers (MST) in Adolescent Education and Adolescent Special Education equips you with the knowledge and practical skills to meet the diverse needs of secondary students. Through research-based strategies and inclusive practices, you鈥檒l learn to support all learners, including students with disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse teens.

Our curriculum is designed to train you to engage students across subject area content鈥攊ncluding biology, chemistry, English, history/social studies, and mathematics. Our strong partnerships with local schools in Westchester and through  provides you with the opportunity to complete your fall practicum fieldwork through paid internship positions. Unlike other programs, you can also complete your student teaching requirements for both certifications in just one semester.

Through our coursework and faculty support, you鈥檒l be ready to obtain an NYS Initial Certificate in adolescent education in a content area for grades 7鈥12, adolescent special education generalist, and an adolescent special education content area specialist.

Experiential Learning and Opportunities

吃瓜头条911鈥檚 School of Education has developed unique partnerships with several school districts in Westchester and through Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES, where teacher candidates can complete their fall practicum fieldwork through paid internship positions. Students may continue at the partnership site in the spring to complete their formal student teaching requirements and then transition back to their paid internship position for the remainder of the semester.

Unlike other programs, at Pace, you鈥檒l have the opportunity to complete your student teaching requirements for both certifications in just one semester. You鈥檒l have an edge by gaining experience in a combined setting over as little as 17 weeks.

    • A personal statement explaining to the Graduate Admission Committee why you would like to pursue the program of graduate study you have chosen. Additional information regarding your academic performance, as well as professional experience, may also be included in the supplement.
    • A resume or outline describing at least the past five years of your employment history and any significant community, professional, or college extracurricular activities.
    • Applicants need 2 letters of recommendation. Letters should be from academic or professional references that can knowledgeably comment on your ability to successfully complete graduate study. Include recognitions and achievements (e.g. licenses, publications, and awards).
    • All Official Transcripts: Transcripts from every accredited college or university attended (not just the degree granting institution) must be sent either to 吃瓜头条911, directly from the academic institution electronically or by mail, or forwarded by the applicant in sealed envelopes from the academic institution
    • Candidates should have a bachelor鈥檚 degree with a major/concentration or the equivalent in the subject area they want to teach. (Example: math, history, biology, English, etc.) Candidates who have 12 credits or fewer of 鈥渄eficiencies鈥 in the subject area are eligible for admission. Deficiencies will be required to be addressed prior to student teaching.
    • International Applicants: Candidates must have a bachelor鈥檚 degree, and they must have their international transcript evaluated by a NACES accredited service such as World Education Services (WES). The purpose of the evaluation is for the agency to determine the American equivalent of courses completed, and credits and grades earned for each course. The evaluation is required by New York State Education Department (NYSED) to determine eligibility for teacher certification.
